Cellulite affects at least 90% of women. About the same number will also experience stretch marks in their lifetime. You will find all sorts of creams and other remedies on supermarket and drug store shelves that claim to prevent or get rid of these problems. Cellulite occurs as a result of the weakening of connective tissues in the skin. Fat cells are trapped just below the skin and form lumps and dimples. Stretch marks occur when skin is stretched rapidly for a period of time, causing the collagen and elastin to break down. This can be caused by pregnancy, growth spurt or rapid weight gain.
Stretch marks appear when the skin collagen is damaged. Red lines appear when the skin is stretched at a fast pace. The lines soon turn into whitish scars. Both are unsightly and can make you feel unattractive. It is difficult to get rid of them and there is no evidence to show that they can be permanently removed. However, a healthy diet and regular exercise can improve the appearance of the skin. Creams, lotions and laser procedure can help to greatly reduce stretch marks.
You will find body creams along with other products that claim they might remove or reduce stretch marks. A lot of them cost a lot. Laser surgery can help to make them less noticeable but does not completely remove them. This procedure can be expensive and is not an option available to everybody.
You do not have to spend a lot of money. If you exercise every day and maintain a proper diet you will benefit the skin. Also, use inexpensive remedies like gels and toning lotions to improve the appearance of your skin as well as in time both problems can appear less noticeable.
